According to Jyllands-Posten the Danish defence minister Gitte Lillelund Bech used Wednesday’s visit to the US defence secretary to campaign against the centre-left opposition. One of her arguments was this:
Villy Søvndal har hen over sommeren klart sagt, at hans parti ikke ønsker at fortsætte den aktivistiske og militaristiske udenrigspolitik.
Or (in my translation)
During the summer, Villy Søvndal has clearly stated that he does not want to continue the activist and militaristic foreign policy
Now, this is the paper reporting the minister’s statement but I would assume that the defence minister knows how to describe the Danish foreign policy and I am surprised (or perhaps not) to learn that “militaristic” is now supposed to be a word with positive connotations in Danish politics.
