Thüringen Update

That the leader of CDU in Thüringen and state prime minister Dieter Althaus threw in the towel after last Sunday’s defeat was not that surprising.

But we now have an interesting situation as three persons are mentioned as possible successors (and state prime ministers in a grand coalition): The acting finance minister Birgit Diezel (who substituted for Althaus after his skiing accident), social affairs minister Christine Lieberknecht or the leader of the CDU parliamentary group Mike Mohring.

So, what are the chances that Thüringen becomes the second German state (after Schleswig-Holstein) to have a woman state prime minister?
