In the continued absence of serious political blogging, here’s a photo of the statue of C.C. Hall which you can find in Søndermarken, Frederiksberg. Interestingly, the biography of Hall on the Danish Wikipedia is pretty useless, while the one on the English version is hoisted from an old edition of Encyclopædia Britannica.

Anyway, Hall was one of the leading men in Danish politics in the first decades after the introduction of the 1849 Constitution and served as prime minister twice (1857-1859 and 1860-1863). As a National-Liberal, he was also one of the proponents of Helstaten or the Unitary State, i.e. the introduction of a common democratic constitution for Denmark proper, Schleswig and Holstein, but later supported a policy linking Denmark and Schleswig. And as you have probably guessed by now, the infamous Schleswig-Holstein question became his undoing.
