The Swedish government called: It wants its money back. Or to be more precise: Because the Swedish universities and colleges have underperformed in the production of candidates (yes, there is no difference between a university and a sausage factory), they will have to repay 0,9 billion SEK out of a total outlay of 19 billion SEK.
If all 0,9 billion were converted into jobs (which they won’t), that would be something like 1500 to 1800 redundancies. My advice to young academics: Hope for a severe worldwide depression, or reconsider your career planning.
