So, How Was Your Week?
Busy. I’ve been to Odense and back three times to get a lot of practical stuff fixed. Also kicked off a course in Copenhagen with a week’s delay (many apologies to my students). That will be the first time in ten years that I give a course in Danish. Weird.
At least my furniture and stuff are where they are supposed to be and the Swedish IRS has written to tell me that they have been informed that I’m now a resident of Denmark.
The next problems are: 1) Finding the laundry room where I live (no, honestly – I can’t find the house), 2) getting an internet line in my new apartment, 3) getting cable-tv (Denmark will be losing to playing Hungary tomorrow in the first World Cup 2010 qualifier, but there will be no live reports on the radio. Dang!). I also have to figure out how to get some curtains: When you live in the city centre, you might not want everybody to be able to peek into your bedroom.
Oh, and I have ten boxes of books and stuff which belong in my office. I do have an office, but my new department will be moving in a month’s time. Timing is everything.

Today’s globalisation is operating with higher resolution. It is not enough to think of skill groups and sectors; the impact is more unpredictable, sudden and individual than in the past. This column assesses how high-resolution globalisation differs and how governments need to respond to make it work.
