Let me just note that one of my Friday rituals for the last – oh, since they started podcasting – has been listening to Slate’s Political Gabfest where a bunch of suave Washington insider journalists give us the latest dope about US politics.
This week turned out the be the Frank Booth Gabfest courtesy of John Edwards. The funny part – with the producer unexpectedly entering the discussion from stage left – has been placed at the end of the podcast.
Generally I don’t want political journalism to be turned into a slugfest with gratuitous use of explicit language – but then again: It is fascinating to hear usually calm and controlled people get totally fired up on a subject. It would be interesting to see – or hear – Iraq or health care get the same treatment.
