A Very Short History of Denmark
Chris Bertram challenged me to write 7000 years of Danish history in 50 words.
Here goes:
Denmark has been inhabited since the last Ice Age. Around 1000 AD Danish kings established a Baltic empire. Denmark’s position began to decline at the end of the Middle Age and after successive losses of territories, Denmark emerged in its present form as a small nation-state during the 19th Century.
Next, I’ll be doing 50 years of Danish history in 7000 words but that’s for a book.
