My Great-Grandfather’s House and Bakery

without comments

Not exactly a forgotten Gauguin but a local artist’s version of my great-grandfather’s, August Lassen’s (1869-1939), house and bakery in the village of Ullerup, just outside of Sønderborg. The house was demolished in the mid-1970s but I vaguely remember visiting the place as a small boy.

If you should manage to find a copy of Sønderjylland. Historisk Billedbog II, 1864-1920 at a Danish library, it has a photo of artisans from Ullerup, including my great-grandfather wearing an impressive hat and an even more impressive moustache.

Communication Breakdown

without comments

Ny Alliance has five MPs but as of today employs no fewer than three communication experts to keep the MPs from putting their feet in their mouths.

The appointments come after first Ulla Østergaard and then Rasmus Jönsson threw in their respective towels. Last week, the party’s organisational chairman gave himself three months to stabilise the party.
