gimPod

without comments

Putting a rubber cover on a brand new iPod to protect it from scratches seems a bit strange. After the operation was done the thing also reminded me of the Gimp of Pulp Fiction fame.

(Geeky note: The pod is placed in a 3G dock)

It’s time to rewrite those political science textbooks: Switzerland became a parliamentary democracy this week. (Frankfurter Allgemeine, Süddeutsche Zeitung, NZZ, BBC News)

Next: Climate change in Hell.

Sympathy for the Parties

without comments

The Swedish Statistical Office has published the November data from its twice-annual party sympathy poll.

The poll again confirms the massive increase in support for the Social Democrats which started almost immediately after the September 2006 election. That the increase is beginning to level out is hardly surprising.

Another interesting observation concerns the gross flows between the Conservatives, the Liberals, the Social Democrats and the Green Party, as well as from the Centre Party to the Green Party and the Social Democrats (see figure 1 on the linked page). That the Liberal and the Green Party act as a sort of half-way houses for voters floating from the right to the left side of the political spectrum isn’t surprising but still worth noting.
