The What What What…?

without comments

It’s the George W. Bush administration so what did you expect? I would like to see a comment about the Boxer Rebellion, though.

Extravaganza

I’ll just note that Swedish TV4 seems to have fallen in love with the idea of the day-long broadcast. Today, we get the Total Nobel Prize Coverage from 5.50 AM to 11.55 PM.

Last Saturday it was Swedish Idol all day. (Fortunately, I had to spend some time on the Nordiska Museet and Skansen in Stockholm as well as visiting a friend living in the Deep South).

The Vader Complex

without comments

Paul Krugman gets funny:

Back when Hillary Clinton described Dick Cheney as Darth Vader, a number of people pointed out that this was an unfair comparison. For example, Darth Vader once served in the military.

Here’s another reason the comparison is invalid: the contractors Darth Vader hired to build the Death Star actually got the job done.

And then Mark Thoma wants a piece of the action as well:

Darth Vader and his evil twin

So much for the dismal science.
