Think of
LondonUmeå, a small cityIt’s dark, dark in the daytime
The people sleep, sleep in the daytime
If they want to, if they want to

Better Late than Never
Speaking of late news: Last week’s Politiken Weekly finally arrived. Usually, it should be here on Thursday.
Bad Timing
I just learnt that Per Schlingmann and Marita Ulvskog, the party secretaries of the Conservative and Social Democratic parties, respectively, will be appearing at Umeå University later today. Unfortunately, I have a meeting at the time so there will be no first-hand report here.
Schlingmann is perhaps best known for his rather heavy-handed attempts to block any reforms of local and regional government, while Ulvskog will be forever remembered (at least by me) for comparing the centre-right’s electoral win in 1976 to a military coup.
Not the two most elegant of Swedish politicians, as you may have guessed.
