Attracting the Vote

without comments

Traditionally, the Danish People’s Party has enjoyed most support among the 50+ cohorts. The fact for some reason crossed my mind when I read this story from Thailand.

Whacked by the Numbers

I must admit that it is very hard not to be intrigued by the level of support enjoyed (or perhaps suffered) by the Swedish government: The latest poll by Synovate/Temo tells us that the Social Democrats is supported by 46,2 % of voters against 38,7 % for the four governing parties combined.

The only possible parallel I can think of is the complete melt-down suffered by the Danish Social Democrats who saw support slipping from something like 35 to 20 % following the reform of the early retirement benefit in early 1999.

I can’t wait to see the results of the analysis of the 2006 election: Why would voters elect a government, only to abandon it almost immediately and in such a spectacular fashion? Yes, I know that I have tried to explain this earlier this year (look here under Instant Failure), but still: This really merits research.

Update: Here are a couple of Swedish blogs on the subject – Ulf Bjereld, Jonas Morian, Peter Wennblad.

DN’s News Quiz

As my contribution to the weekly office competition was caught by the intertubes (perhaps the implication that I’d managed to beat Svante Ersson for once made it seem too good to be true?), here it is for all the world to see:

6 rätt av 7 möjliga Bra! Snudd på full pott.

Av de 5272 personer som hittills gjort testet, klarade du dig bättre än 4382 (83%).

Spam Woes

without comments

I’ve noted that my employer seems to have blacklisted gmail. I still get truckloads of spam delivered to my work e-mail, though, so with a little bad luck all legitimate e-mail will disappear into thin air (or thin cyberspace) while the spam is left.
