Notes from the Outside of the Inside

Change of Programme

without comments

One thing which is good about not living in Denmark is that I don’t have to pay a licence fee to DR.

DR is supposed to be a public service-broadcaster and in Denmark this means listening to or viewing programming which is full of all kinds of technical glitches (the squeaking doors are just the most hilarious example), news programmes shows where you remember the anchors’ flashy suits (but not their names or the actual news), automated music programmes à la Classic FM, systematic cuts of every kind of programming which is not commercially streamlined including the abandoning of children as a target group.

It really isn’t surprising to learn that the monumental palace housing this disaster is leaking.

The question is: Will DR still exist in five years’ time? And will anybody mourn its passing?

Yes, I do have to pay a fee to SR and SvT instead.
