Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer Revisited
Yesterday, the High Court for Upper Norrland reached a verdict in a – to put it mildly – infected case about herding and grazing rights for Sami “villages” (quotation marks as we are not talking about physical villages but rather associations of reindeer-owners) in the coastal areas of Vsterbotten.
According to reports the verdict was split with the president of the court dissenting. Press release here. Press reports here (VK) and here (VF) – if you read Swedish you’ll note not just the quantity but also the viciousness of the venom hurled at the Sami in the reader comments.
