Following the resignation of the Social Democratic government last Friday, Carin Jämtin was one of the old ministers who did not get a position as group leader for the Social Democratic members of one of the Swedish Parliament’s committees. (The full list is here).
Now we know what many suspected: Following the dismal performance of the Social Democrats in the local elections in Stockholm, Annika Billström has been ousted as political leader of the Social Democrats in Stockholm and she will be replaced by Jämtin and Roger Morgert who was Mayor for Culture and Labour during the last term. As of now there is no formal announcement on the homepage of the local branch of the Social Democratic Party.
The next question is of cause why anyone in his or her right mind would want to get involved with local Social Democratic politics in Stockholm which has always seemed pretty dysfunctional to me.
