The Great Danish Book Sale
I’ve been falling a little behind with regard to political books the last six months but I have at least managed to read Olle Svenning’s book about Göran Persson. Review to follow when I have received and read another volume about Mr. P: Makten framför allt.
I also owe the blog a review of De fantastiske fire (The Fantastic Four – and no it’s not about the guys from Liverpool, the Marvel cartoon or the German hip-hop band: The fantastic four are Svend Auken, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, Mogens Lykketoft and Ritt Bjerregaard) which I read during the Christmas holidays.
The Danish Book sale started today and here you could get books about Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Mogens Lykketoft with a hefty discount.
Lykketoft is down to 25 DKK while Fogh still sells for 99 DKK. I added the newly published Håndbog for statsministre (Handbook for Prime Ministers), a book about Marianne Jelved (not on sale unlike Fogh and Lykketoft – food for thought) and some other stuff. My credit card will hate me.
Other authors sitting on my shelves bothering me are Jytte Klausen, Tariq Ramadan, Richard Sennett, Daniel Bell and Albert Hirschman. And some volumes on post-WW2 U.S. history just to complete the mess.
If only the days were 48 hours long and I had the stamina of a bear.

For the record: The Swedish Conservatives are not a bunch of werewolves.
Jules: We should have shotguns for this kind of deal.
Vincent: How many up there?
Jules: Three or four.
Vincent: That’s countin’ our guy?
Jules: Not sure.
Vincent: So that means there could be up to five guys up there?
Jules: It’s possible.
Vincent: We should have fuckin’ shotguns.
In case you don’t read Swedish: The local branch of the Young Conservatives’ Union in Sundsvall had published a picture of the chairman Beatrice Fredrikssson dressed in full hunting gear and proclaiming that she was going on a Social Democrat hunt.
